Difference between "A" and "B" pots

With linear potentiometers (Type B), the resistance between one end of the track and the wiper varies at a constant rate as the slider is moved along the track.

With the Taper A pot, the output voltage increases logarithmically. Hence, when adjusting the volume below 60%, you might perceive a smaller change in volume. However, beyond 60%, the volume increase becomes more pronounced. Therefore, if you require a louder volume, simply adjust the knob above 80%.
